The Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT) replaced the Australian Learning and Teaching Council in 2011. OLT supports learning and teaching in higher education.

NOTE: There are UNSW internal deadlines and processes that relate to external grant proposals and award applications. The internal deadlines and processes for grant proposals apply when UNSW is the lead institution as well as when UNSW is a collaborator and project team member.

Commissioned Strategic Projects Deadline:
Submissions to OLT close 5pm (AEST) Friday 25 May 2012

Grants Internal Deadlines:

  • Submissions of Round 2 Innovation and Development, Seed Projects and Leadership Grant proposals are due 2 July 2012
  • Submissions of Round 2 Extention Grant proposals are due 3 August 2012

Proposals to be emailed to OLT Grants

Awards Internal Deadlines:

  • Submissions of Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning applications are due 24 May 2012
  • Submissions of Teaching Excellence and Programs that Enhance Learning awards applicatons are due 15 June 2012

Closing Date

Fellowships and Secondments

Up to 5 national teaching fellowships, up to 5 mid-career fellowships, and a number of secondments to the Office will be offered.

  • OLT nominations for fellowships are now closed.

Learning and Teaching Grants Programs

Funding is provided for Innovation and Development, Seed Projects and Leadership Grants. Internal deadline for submission of Round 2 Innovation and Development, Seed Projects and Leadership Grant proposals is 2 July 2012.

Funding to support the continued dissemination and embedding of completed learning and teaching projects is provided through Extension Grants. Internal deadline for submission of Round 2 Extension Grant proposals for peer review and formative feedback is 3 August 2012.

Citations and Awards

The Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) comprise Citations and awards for teaching and program excellence:

  • Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning
  • Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning
  • Awards for Teaching Excellence
  • Prime Minister's Award for Australian University Teacher of the Year
  • Career Achievement Award

Internal deadline for submission of nominations for a Citation is 24 May 2012.

Internal deadline for submission of nominations for teaching and program excellence awards is 15 June 2012.
