DEBATE: The lecture is dead! (Long live the lecture)

Associate Deans go head to head

DEBATE: The lecture is dead! (Long live the lecture)

Please note the venue has changed to Electrical Engineering Room G25

Are the days of the traditional university lecture numbered? For some time higher education pundits have been questioning the ongoing role of the lecture, and the media have also been chiming in (see The Conversation). Have you been wondering where the debate is heading and what it will mean for UNSW?

This 'great debate' on the topic of the lecture in higher education will pit senior academics from four UNSW Faculties against each other, with an opportunity for the audience to contribute. This will be not deadly serious, but a bit of lively fun to finish the semester.

The speakers will be:

Affirmative

Associate Professor Cath Ellis
Associate Dean (Education)
UNSW Arts & Social Sciences

Nick-Wailes.jpg Professor Nick Wailes
Associate Dean (Digital & Innovation)
UNSW Business School

Negative

Chris-Tisdell_0.jpg

Associate Dean (Education)
UNSW Science

Moderator/Provocateur
