Beyond the Lecture?

In this Virtual Connections Seminar, Melanie will cover topics such as producing media on various budgets; using analytics to reflect on media use; recommended tools and "best practices”.

mediaUcreate Melanie Hibbert.jpgMelanie Hibbert is the Associate Director of Instructional Media at Barnard College, Columbia University. Her 2015 Educause poster presentation titled, “Beyond the Lecture: Designing Media for Interactivity and Engagement” provides an overview of how media production has developed at Columbia University from 30+ minute PowerPoint lectures to HTML5 interactive content incorporating video, images, text in a responsive web page.  Melanie previously held the position of Senior Media Producer at Columbia University School of Continuing Education and wrote an interesting article for Educause Review 2014, “What Makes an Online Instructional Video Compelling?

The virtual seminar will be offered in a variety of ways to allow for flexible participation. Participants will be able to attend face to face, in locations across campus or by watching the live presentation on Youtube at: http://bit.ly/1Maew3y

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions through a facilitator at each location or by using the hashtag #mediaucreate via Twitter.
