Dr Chris Daly, School of Mining Engineering and Xinni Du, Learning and Teaching Unit
Engaging students in online discussions is always a challenge that many teaching staff have experienced. And building student engagement is only the first step of facilitating a successful online course. Certainly, we would like to see more active online discussions. However, do we have time to go through and give grades for hundreds of posts?
Chris Daly, from the Faculty of Engineering and Xinni Du, from the Learning and Teaching Unit, will share their experiences on designing and grading assessment tasks for a fully online course, including effective strategies to increase online discussions, ways to increase the quality of students' contributions and an innovative approach to improve grading efficiency.
