The Live Poll activity is a useful tool for conducting informal class polls in Moodle. It is most effective in situations where students are required to vote for an item of their choice.
Live Poll can be used during lectures as the vote count is updated automatically. Therefore, a question can be posted to students during the lecture and the link to the poll can be sent out. This is an efficient way to conduct a quick knowledge check as Live Poll allows instructors to set and release the correct answer to students once they have voted.

Live Poll Settings
While setting up the activity, there are a few important settings to consider.
Can I prevent students from changing their response?
Students can change their response as many types as they want until the poll is closed by the teacher. When the poll is closed, students cannot change their response anymore. Poll can be left open for a period of time if an opinion on a matter is needed, but for the instant knowledge check it's best to open poll for only short periods, so students have just the time to answer the questions.
