Nitika Garg is a Professor in the School of Marketing and Director of the PhD Teaching Fellows Program at UNSW Business School. Nitika is recognised for her scholarship on emotions influence on various aspects of consumer behaviour including responsible consumption, pro-social, and sustainable behaviours, and consumer ethics. These are cutting edge topics with wide-ranging implications for stakeholders such as managers and public policy officials.
Her research has been published in elite Marketing journals (A*/FT50) and presented at premium conferences. It has also received extensive coverage in media outlets such as the New York Times, ABC, Conversation, BusinessThink, and BBC. A/Prof. Garg has designed, developed, and taught multiple courses across the spectrum, from undergraduate to postgraduate to research seminars, and from small to relatively large classes.
She also supervises Honours and Postgraduate research students. Her learning and teaching approach aims to empower students to become effective decision makers, by developing critical thinking skills and drawing connections from research to practice. She utiliises an active learning environment that fosters open discussion and teamwork, to achieve this.
She is the Director of the PhD Teaching Fellows Program at UNSW Business School, elected member of both UNSW Academic Board and Business School Faculty Board, and Honours coordinator, School of Marketing. She has also served as the Director, Business Experimental Research Laboratory (BizLab). Currently, the At-Large Director of the Association for Consumer Research, the leading global professional association of behavioural marketers, she also serves as the Associate Editor, Marketing at Australian Journal of Management.
