Media Collection is a media repository that allows academics and students to upload and share media (Image, Audio, Video) in folders known as galleries. It is not recommended to use this for documents (PDF or Word Documents) as documents cannot be viewed within the browser.
The Media Collection is commonly used to:
- Allow students to upload creative submissions to display to all course participants.
- Set as an assignment to be graded by teaching staff.
- Allow other students to provide feedback to galleries.
Media collection assignment can be used to assess media content, such as images, audio and videos, with the assignment activity. An advantage of this is that media collection features such as comments and peer feedback alongside assignments grading can be used.
Create a Media Collection
Academics can create a Media Collection by selecting the "Media Collection" option from the activity chooser. Depending on the settings, academics and students can add galleries to the collection to upload files.
The Media Collection is a great way to upload videos larger than Moodle's usual 200 MB file limit and to streamline course rollover by reusing the galleries.
