Sharing Cart Block

The sharing cart block allows academics to easily keep copies of and move content (activities or resources) between courses. The sharing cart will only appear to staff in editing mode and must be added as a block into the course to be usable.

What is the Sharing Cart block?

The Sharing Cart block is a useful tool that allows staff to easily duplicate course items into a personal library to use within other courses. Sharing Cart block can only be visible when "Edit Mode" is turned on and won't be visible to students.

Items can be saved in the sharing cart indefinitely and duplicated into other courses, providing an efficient method to move items between courses, or keep a library of frequently used resources. Items copied into sharing cart will not contain any user data.

Media collection galleries and items are not treated as user data. If copying a Media Collection activity, galleries and items contained within will be copied into the Sharing Cart.
Sharing Cart should not be used to copy Quizzes across courses as that would cause the entire question bank to be copied over as well.

Adding a Sharing Cart block

The Sharing Cart block can easily be added to your course via the Block Drawer. Please note, this block will not be visible to students.

FAQ

How much content can I copy using the sharing cart?

Sharing cart is best used for single items, like individual activities or resources. Whole sections can be copied as well, however, it is not advisable to do so as copying might take extended time and might time out, which might cause some activities not be fully copied and functioning. Also, when copying items into sharing cart, it is advisable to note the size of the activity or resource. Some resources, like videos, can be better added to the course via theBox than using the sharing cart.
