Associate Professor Tim Trudgian, Academic Mentor, UNSW Canberra

I am an Australian born in 1984, married, and have two sons. I am particularly interested in helping junior faculty balance their time commitments of research and teaching. I have been involved in mentoring since returning to Australia in 2012.

As for teaching: students need to want to be in the lecture if they have any hope of learning anything. So, then, make it fun. Easy, done! And we don't need any Maslow's hierarchy to tell us that. How to get better at lecturing? Stop doing things wrong! Simple.

As for research: I am a mathematician (numbers and such!) and have a team of clever PhD students, all much cleverer than I am, solving all sorts of problems around the clock.

Email [email protected] to enquire if Tim is available to mentor you.
