Language learning academics are very adventurous in bringing in new modes of teaching or exploring ways to engage the students. This project saw the creation of a suite of virtual worlds where students would use what they have now learnt in their classes to travel to Mars, explore a pirate island, get into the medieval castle and delve under the sea.
Project Details
The various worlds were used to allow students to explore a new place using their new knowledge with the target language.
TECHNOLOGY & DEVELOPMENT
The project is in a fairly stable state now with only minor enhancements and updates continuing in collaboration with the Languages academics. The staff and work integrated learning student developers are using the Unity game engine to bring together all the elements and deliver the VR experience using webgl builds during covid and supporting the Meta Quest headsets.
