Overview of LTU Service Teams and Staff

A number of different individuals and teams have responsibility for leading, managing and supporting learning and teaching at UNSW. The role of the Learning and Teaching Unit (LTU) is to provide advice, guidance and support to the University, to faculties, to schools and to individuals on the enhancement of learning and teaching at UNSW.

The Unit is comprised of five key discipline teams tasked with enabling a university wide coordinated approach to excellence in learning and teaching. The Operations Services Team supports all operational functions required to ensure effective and efficient practices and service provision.

Educational Design Services

The Educational Design Services Team: is responsible for developing and maintaining a range of high quality resources, activities and services to support faculties, schools and individuals to design, develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs and courses that reflect best practice in their disciplinary field. Programs and services include:

·       Faculty engagement and support

·       Curriculum and pedagogical design service

·       Connections seminars

·       Learning and Teaching Fora

·       TELT and media skills development

Strategic Educational Development Projects

The Strategic Educational Development Projects Team: is responsible for developing and maintaining a range of high quality MOOCs (Massively Open Online Courses) that meet the strategic priorities of the University. These are strategically targeted research and development projects undertaken in partnership with faculties. Programs and services include:

·       Project management and marketing of courses

·       Liaison with external service providers and vendor management

·       Development of software platform and provision of technical support

·       Analysis, design and storyboarding of learning processes

·       Development of course activities, assessment tasks, content and resources

·       Implementation and deployment of courses

·       Research, evaluation and reporting processes

·       Analysis of lessons learnt and integration into mainstream teaching

Staff and Career Development Services

The Staff and Career Development Services Team: is responsible for developing and maintaining a range of high quality programs, activities, resources and services to support the ongoing professional and career development of UNSW’s teaching staff. Programs and services include:

·       Beginning to Teach

·       Foundations of University Learning and Teaching

·       Graduate Certificate in University Learning and Teaching

·       Grants, awards and fellowships

Learning Analytics and Business Services (LABS)

The Learning Analytics and Business Services (LABS) Team: is responsible for working in partnership with BRIDG (Business Reporting, Intelligence, & Data Governance Unit), the TELT Services Team, and IT to develop and maintain the business processes, systems and services to efficiently and effectively collect, manage/curate, disseminate/report the data necessary to support UNSW’s Quality Assurance and Improvement (QA&I) processes and Educational Research and Development (ER&D) interests as they relate to learning, teaching, and educational design. The team is also responsible for developing and maintaining a range of high quality resources, activities, and services to support faculties, schools and individuals to access and utilise these data for research and evaluation purposes. Programs and services include:

·       Student Voice / CATEI

·       Data Analysis and Reporting

Technology Enabled Learning & Teaching (TELT)

The Technology Enabled Learning & Teaching (TELT) Team: is responsible for developing and maintaining UNSW’s enterprise level platform of L&T systems and services and a range of high quality programs, activities, resources and services to support UNSW’s teaching staff to access and utilise UNSW L&T systems. The team also provides leadership and support to the Educational Design Services, LABS, and Staff and Career Development Services teams in relation to the design, development, and implementation of the IT systems necessary to support their operational and strategic activities. Programs and services include:

·       EMS (Educational Media Distribution System & ECHO 360),

·       Assessment, grading & feedback tools

·       Learning management system (MOODLE)

·       E-Learning support

·       Technical support of MOOC’s
