Imagine a place on campus where we showcase innovation in the use of technologies for teaching. A vibrant location that everyone wants to visit and is welcomed to experience things for themselves.
Areas and spaces for project & industry demos, VR classrooms, technology experimentation and people enjoying the vibe - surrounded by digital displays, projections and holograms highlighting the best of UNSW, particularly in education technology. This includes collaborative spaces where staff and work integrated learning students are developing content and solutions together with academics and vendors.
A highly visible signature area where visitors can experience our innovation in learning technologies from Artificial Intelligence and e-sports to Virtual Reality Simulations and a digital campus metaverse.
This is an exciting time as UNSW brings together the strategic initiative of the MAVI project and the current operations to forge ahead with a new level of technical innovation for AV, VR, spaces and technology.
Project Details
The concept continues to evolve within both the PVCE (Education Innovation) and IT (MAVI) teams with prototype areas already including:
- Precinct or Zone Unification space (digital signage destination for collaborators, guests and visitors)
- Showcase & Demo space (presentations and experiences of technologies and solutions)
- XR Classroom space (adjustable teaching space with VR headsets and new classroom AV)
- Technology Test space (pilot technology enhancements with staff and students)
- Development Work space (extensive desk space for the creation and coding of educational technologies)
- Help, Support and Advice space (accessible technical staff to support the use of these innovations)
- Collaboration and Meeting space (design and brainstorming area for projects)
The current location is in a series of spaces at the back of the UNSW Main Library (F21) in the white passageway near the Post Office - the prototype spaces above are alive with staff, students, technology and digital signage.
